APCM - presentations and videos
We had a great APCM on Monday night - thank you to everyone who joined us either in person or over zoom. It was our first attempt at live streaming in the church building and aside from a few technical hiccups early on, it went really well!
We elected new members to the PCC and Deanery Synod and confirmed our Church Wardens for the year ahead. Mike Page is continuing, and we welcomed Pete Marston who is taking over from Penny Cox. Penny is stepping down after five and a half years of faithful service in the role. Mike Archer thanked Penny on behalf of all of us for her leadership, willingness to serve and the wisdom that she has brought to all areas of church life.
Other highlights from the evening included presentations from Steve Chapman as Treasurer and David Tozer as Chair of Fabric. If you would like to view the powerpoint slides for either presentation then click here for finance and here for fabric. Steve is happy to answer any questions relating to his presentation and can be contacted at treasurer@highfield.church.
Pete Marston, as Chair of Employment, also updated us on the changes to the staffing structure. The new organogram can be found here and gives details of each staff member, their areas of responsibility and how you can contact them. Pete also thanked our volunteers, many of whom are named in our Annual Report, and invited everyone to consider how they might be able to serve in this new season. Pete is happy to be contacted at wardens@highfield.church if you have any questions.
We also received some Resource Church updates and news from our recent church plants, with a video update from Jono Harvey at St Nics (you can watch his update here) and an update from Tim Taylor about YTH CHRCH (Click here to see a sneak peek behind the scenes of YTH CHRCH Live). Tim shared the exciting news that we have been successful with two of our grant applications - what an answer to prayer! One of these is significant and will allow us to employ a Youth Worker (0.5 FTE) for the next three years. We are delighted that Emma Jackson has agreed to continue in this role. We are still waiting to hear about one last grant application that if successful, will help us with project costs related to YTH CHRCH - please continue to pray. David Bartram Torrance gave a video message (which can be seen here) about his involvement in the chaplaincy at the University.
Finally, Mike spoke about the way ahead and looked at three different scriptures that God had laid on his heart which can be found here.
