Christmas Parcels for Students

This year has been a long, tough semester for students. In September, the government were eager to send students back to university across the UK, yet when they arrived, the university experience they all deserved was not there to greet them. Instead, a COVID-tier system and Lockdown 2.0 which limited their ability to meet up as a community. It’s been a challenging to disciple and equip our students to be missional this semester. However, we are super proud of the way they’ve carried on, choosing not to be defeated, making the most of every opportunity by attending Small Group, Student Nights and Sunday Services, albeit in small numbers or virtually. We have seen a few students come to know Jesus this semester which is an incredible testament to the boldness of our Student Team and outward-looking community. Now, as the majority of students return home this Christmas (a minority grounded in Southampton), trying hard not feel apathetic, we can reflect and say they’ve taken huge steps in character and have grown hugely sons and daughters of God.

To bless students, next week we are personally delivering 60 Christmas parcels across the city to each and every single one of our Highfield community. Inside are sweet treats, fun games and lots of leaflets advertising both mental health services and our Christmas digital stream landing page for services over December. We’re seeing our Christmas Parcel delivery as a brilliant opportunity to be bless not only our students, but their housemates and friends beyond their household. Join us in praying the staff team will be able to have great conversations and times of prayer at the doorsteps of student homes.
