We’d love to tell you about an exciting new project that Caraway is starting in collaboration with the NHS Admiral Nurses and Solent NHS Trust. Beginning in February, this pilot project supports the well-being of people who are living with dementia and their carers. Our volunteer team will provide a supportive telephone call once or twice a month to hear how things are going and signpost any professional or social help that might be needed. 

We are looking for volunteers to join this project as part of the wider support offered by the NHS Admiral Nurses. No experience is necessary, apart from a willingness to understand the demands of living with dementia, a good listening ear and some time. The commitment would be to support one or more households living with dementia, through regular telephone calls. Training in listening, dementia and safeguarding will be provided, together with ongoing supervision and support.

 Do you know of any people who could do this? 

They will be joining a community of people helping those who have dementia. We think this is a valuable service.  Knowing someone will ring you and ask how you are getting on is something they will look forward to and know that they are not forgotten. 

I am sure you can imagine the need for this in Lockdown 3!
