WE WELCOME YOU
At the core of our student work is the belief that every student should have the opportunity to hear the Gospel in a way that they can understand, and that every Christian student should be trained, equipped, and released to share the Gospel in a format that compliments their personality and gifting. The only way we can achieve this vision is if we come together as a community where we yearn to worship God, seek authentic discipleship, freely give ourselves to serve the church, and create a culture where we live outside of our comfort zones. We invite you to watch the video below to get a flavour for what's on offer during term time, then continue exploring by browsing ways in which you can get involvoved from Sundays to Midweek Communities.
Summer Term 2018 Update
On Sundays we gather together with the wider church community to worship God and learn together.
After our evening service, all students are welcome to drop into the Church Centre for Sundaes on Sundays: ice cream, drinks and games! This is a great time to chill out, meet some other students, and enjoy the student community as a whole.
These are our weekly discipleship groups, led by students, for students. Each group is peer-led and meets in the evenings on various days of the week in homes. Groups are encouraged to study the Bible together 3 weeks a month, and to spend the other week engaging with the University in mission.
We invite you to check out Psalm 63 then join us at SixtyThree: bi-monthly gatherings dedicated to worshipping Jesus and praying. These evenings don't have an agenda, just putting time aside to spend time with him, allowing him to speak to us and reveal his power. Upcoming SixtyThree gatherings can be found on the Highfield Students Facebook page.
YOUNG ADULTS' W/E AWAY
For the past two years, the students and the young adults have headed somewhere else in the country to seek God, to worship, and to enjoy some fellowship together.
There's something significant in setting aside a few days just to seek and worship God. While sometimes it can be difficult to focus or gain perspective during the daily grind, giving a weekend to God frequently brings clarity and revelation. It's also really fun!
International students, international postgraduates, international scholars and their families are very welcome to join us at any of our Sunday services, whether you have a religion or not.
If you are an international undergraduate or masters student, you are welcome to join one of the student small groups or, if you are doing a PhD, postgraduate studies or research, you might prefer to join our 20s & 30s Community.
I'D LIKE TO CHAT ABOUT SOMETHING THAT'S GOING ON IN MY LIFE. WHO CAN I TALK TO?
Grab a coffee with one of our Student Ministry Assistants: Will, Abi and Christine. Get in contact by email or introduce yourself at church!
HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN FAITH?
Why not try Alpha, a course which offers the opportunity to find out more about the Bible, Christianity and to ask questions in an informal setting.
We also support and work in partnership with Friends International, a charity who organise a programme of social and cultural events for international students in Southampton. They run activities such as the "local link" hospitality scheme and "iExplore" discussion groups for those interested in finding out about the Christian faith.
