STUDENTS

WELCOME

Are you searching for a community that looks out for you, helps you to grow, and make space for you to have an impact at University?

You matter, and you should have someone be there for you.

Being part of a community that cares is the best way to do Uni. That's what Highfield Students is here for.

If you're wondering how we do that in practice, keep reading!

HELLO!

Our Campus Pastor, Tim, and our Student Worker, Rhiannon, are here to support and encourage our local student community.

Please do introduce yourself and keep your eyes on Highfield Students' Facebook and Instagram pages to see what events they are putting together to build and re-affirm community.

SERVICES

The services are our big gatherings each week, it's a chance for you to come and encounter God. You can expect a worship band, someone speaking about a section from the Bible, opportunities to be prayed for, and times of inviting God to come and move. We've seen so many life-changing experiences in that space.

There are three to choose from:

9am - traditional, liturgical, organ, choir, hymns

10:30am - contemporary, family oriented

6:30pm - contemporary, popular with young adults

Or come to all three! Students are welcome in each of our congregations.

SMALL GROUPS

Is there more to life than this?

You’ve got big questions, but how do you find the answers? Together.

We gather in small groups of 6-12 people on Tuesday evenings during term time to build relationships and encourage one another, through prayer, listening, eating together, serving and sharing.

University is hard, but we believe it's easier with other people. Email Rhiannon at students@highfield.church to find out how to get involved.

SEEK THE KINGDOM

Jesus told his followers to seek the Kingdom. Once we know him, that’s the next step. Our main way of seeking the Kingdom is through Living Room, which is our weekly chance to love our neighbours around the dinner table.

Every Sunday during term time we cook and eat together. Everyone is invited, seriously, this isn’t just the Christian club. The Jesus we know had meals with absolutely everyone from prostitutes to important religious leaders, so we’re taking this one out of his book: everyone is welcome.

So this is your invitation, starting 24th September, 5:15pm every Sunday. Bring your friends!

We also believe that prayer makes a difference. So we pray for the Kingdom to come.

One of our favourite things to do as a community is to head up to campus together and pray for it. Sometimes we pray for people while we’re there, and sometimes amazing things happen.

We’ve seen tired people be totally refreshed, back pain instantly healed, and spiritual encounters with Jesus that have transformed lives. Like we said, he’s a Living God. DM us, or find us on a Sunday if you want to join the prayer or be prayed for.

Come and join the adventure.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN FAITH?

Why not try Alpha, a course which offers the opportunity to find out more about the Bible, Christianity and to ask questions in an informal setting.

We also support and work in partnership with Friends International, a charity who organise a programme of social and cultural events for international students in Southampton. They run activities such as the "local link" hospitality scheme and "iExplore" discussion groups for those interested in finding out about the Christian faith.

Or, DM or email us! And we would love to meet with you for a coffee and answer any questions you have.
