WELCOME
Are you searching for a community that looks out for you, helps you to grow, and make space for you to have an impact at University?
You matter, and you should have someone be there for you.
Being part of a community that cares is the best way to do Uni. That's what Highfield Students is here for.
If you're wondering how we do that in practice, keep reading!
HELLO
Our Student Pastor, Tim, and a team of volunteers are here to support and encourage our local student community.
Please do introduce yourself and keep your eyes glued to Highfield Students' Facebook and Instagram pages to see what events they are putting together to build and re-affirm community.
LIVING ROOM
How do you like to meet new people? We like to do it around the table.
Every week during the term we cook a meal, get together in the church centre, and catch up. You’re always invited, seriously, this isn’t just the Christian club. The Jesus we know had meals with absolutely everyone from prostitutes to important religious leaders, so we’re taking this one out of his book, everyone is welcome. So this is your invitation, starting 25th September, 5:30 pm every Sunday.
6:30 SERVICE
The 6:30pm service is our big gathering each week, it's a chance for you to come and encounter God. You can expect a worship band, someone speaking about a section from the Bible, opportunities to get prayed for, and times of inviting God to come and move. We've seen so many life-changing experiences in that space.
There is also a 9am traditional (choir, hymns), 10:30 morning service and YTH CHRCH (designed for 11-18yr olds, but anyone can join. Arguably more fun and laid back!)
SMALL GROUPS
Is there more to life than this?
You’ve got big questions, but how do you get them answered? Together.
Whether you’ve never asked those big questions, or you’ve been a Christian your whole life you can find something for you at Highfield. Alpha, Small groups and take root. The brief explanation is here, but check out the link in bio for details. We’ll also gather altogether at church on some Tuesday nights.
Alpha - a 9-week course that creates a space, online or in person, for a conversation about faith, life and God. Starting 7:30 pm 11th October on Tuesdays.
Small Groups - Groups of 6-12 students meet weekly in homes to share life together, encourage one another and help friends know Jesus. 7:30 pm Tuesdays during term.
Take root - Each half of the small group, meeting up for an hour mid-week to really go deeper in what it means to go on the adventure with Jesus.
Which path suits you? Come and find the answers you’ve been looking for.
SEEK THE KINGDOM
Jesus told his followers to seek the Kingdom. Once we know him, that’s the next step. We often give out free food, open up the church as a café and invite people into our homes. But we also believe that prayer makes a difference. So we pray.
One of our favourite things to do as a community is to head up to campus together and pray for it. Sometimes we pray for people while we’re there, and sometimes amazing things happen.
We’ve seen tired people be totally refreshed, back pain instantly healed, and spiritual encounters with Jesus that resulted in people becoming Christians. Like we said, he’s a Living God. DM us, or find us on a Sunday if you want to join the prayer or get prayed for.
Come and join the adventure.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN FAITH?
Why not try Alpha, a course which offers the opportunity to find out more about the Bible, Christianity and to ask questions in an informal setting.
We also support and work in partnership with Friends International, a charity who organise a programme of social and cultural events for international students in Southampton. They run activities such as the "local link" hospitality scheme and "iExplore" discussion groups for those interested in finding out about the Christian faith.
